Nick and his friends have worked hard to turn our new space into a spacious welcoming gallery where we can show a broader range of work.
Here are some photos of the process: The building was being used by a local artist as his studio space.
The adobe walls were in bad shape inside: they were pretty eroded, although the roof is in good shape.
There was an original hardwood floor.
The first job was to patch and plaster the walls.
Our friend Michael Vigil and his 'mate' spent a good couple of weeks on the plastering.
At the same time, Harold was re-wiring the place to code, ready to install lighting and power outlets.
Nick came home for dinner looking like a snowman!
What a difference!
Suddenly the room looked bigger and lighter.
Most of the lights were in place, and we had power where we needed it.
Nick and Michael started framing around the top of the walls, and the final big job was the floor.
The wood floor was scraped, sanded, and repaired before we put on four coats of sealer. The difference was amazing.
Now Nick could start hanging the art, and we were ready to open the doors.
And add those little comforts like the fridge and coffee maker!

We still have a lot of work to do, including:
- re-surfacing the exterior to preserve the adobe bricks,
- landscaping,
- replacing doors & windows,
- renovating the rear room as a studio,
- replacing & insulating the roof,
- putting in a water supply and bathroom
... for starters! But we're up and running.
